Statement of significance:

This building is a reminder that the three wards of Harden, Murrumburrah and Demondrille were formed in 1890. This building was the first Council Chambers for the municipality.

Description

Builder/Maker: Franklin & Findlay of Goulburn
Construction years: 1893-
Physical description: A symmetrical frontage building, Victorian Italianate style with central arched top doorway and formal rendered embellishments. Curved head windows with decoratively rendered architrave and sill. Two chimneys. Now converted to a residence.

History

Historical notes: Formerly Council Chambers, now residence.

28 February 1890 - Municipality formed with three wards, Harden, Murrumuburrah and Demondrille.

26 April 1893 - First Council Chambers completed and handled over by builders Franklin & Findlay of Goulburn and occupied.
