Statement of significance:

Historic crossing of the Hawkesbury which till then had only been crossed by ferry (George Peat's ferry from 1840s) or by rail (Hawkesbury River Rail Bridge l889). The road and the new rail bridges were built during the same wartime years, creating enormous, still undocumented, changes within Brooklyn
