Interior - ?
Long gabled brick building in typical PWD style.
Tall east facing windows for even light.
Shaded by long west verandah.
Deeply shaded functional verandah, with immensely long roof as a continuation of the main roof structure, is the most notable departure in design idiom from Barnet's time, & heralds a new realisation of the difference in climatic conditions between Australia and "Home".
Notched verandah posts, scalloped eaves & fanciful chimney pieces reflect the popular decorative devices of Federation Bungalows in the city.
Modifications and dates: The building was extended in 1918.
The brick walls have been painted.
The north end of the building has a skillion lean-to addition housing offices, built 1947.
Current use: 1993: public school

History

Historical notes: HISTORICAL NOTES - 1993: The present brick Teralba School was built 1898-99, on land resumed in 1892.
It followed several smaller weatherboard schools on other sites, and with other names, beginning with the "Hillsborough School" in 1884, and including "Gravel Pit" and "Glen Mitchell" schools.
The name "Teralba School" was originally used at Barnsley, but was transferred here in 1891.
