Architecturally siginificant 'moderne' building by Sodersteen, one of the recognised pioneers of rhe modern movement in Australia. , Important townscape element in context of Town Hall and Civic Park. National trust - a fine example of 1930's public office building.The interiors are of significance.

Description

Physical description: Fine public office building of the 1930's. National Trust - a large international style administration building of distinction.The main facade has a central entrance marked by a 5 storey tower flanked by 4 storey high curved pylons and 3 storeyed office floors leading to later 5 storey additions at the rear. Of particular importance are the various managerial offices and suites on the upper floors which still retain theri 1930's authentic period carptes, furnishings and fittings.
