Statement of significance:


	Excellent example of stable architecture of the period with two stalls retaining original oak woodwork. Designed by Walter L Vernon. (see notes for Agricultural Research & Advisory Station Bathurst)

Designer/Maker:	Walter L. Vernon
Construction years:	1899-1899
Physical description:	A brick structure with iron roof, featuring a timber lantern tower in the main gable. Two stalls remain in original form, featuring oak woodwork and 300-450mm timber cobbles.

Assessment of significance


SHR Criteria a) [Historical significance]	The Stables is one of the farm buildings characteristic of turn of the century farming in tablelands NSW, now widely lost or endangered as a consequence of the different needs of modern agriculture. It is largely unaltered and contributes to the intact part of one of the departmental experiment farms of the 1890s (Hawkesbury and Wagga were two of the others) which made major contributions to the development and introduction of new technologies into NSW agriculture.
