The listing boundary is within the rail property boundary from Montem Street road overbridge to the west, and to a point approximately 20m past the station platform to the east, with the southern boundary running parallel to Wales Close, and to the north along the property boundaries returning to Montem Street.

Statement of significance:


	This is a substantial early station building from 1876 representing the enthusiasm and confidence of early station building design. It is typical of a number of buildings constructed on the southern line. The station complex also exhibits the changes that have taken place with duplication in 1913 and the addition of a platform at the rear of the building so that it became an island platform. The other buildings on the site allow the change in operation to be clearly seen. The station building is one of the few surviving combined station / residences and is of high significance in illustrating the development of the State railway system.

Physical description:	BUILDINGS station building - residence/station building,1875 signal box skillion roof timber, c. 1913 residence - type 6, timber J2, c. 1913 still extant, (Lot 1/DP 840268 - sold 02.02.1998, now privately owned is not included within SHR boundary out of shed - timber STRUCTURES platform faces - brick footbridge - steel and timber, 1913 no longer extant, removed c1990 ARTEFACTS platform lighting
