Physical description:	Railway Barracks / Former Police Barracks: The barracks in Sloane Street Goulburn are part of a series of railway features which run for some distance between the street and the lines themselves. The precise date of construction is not known although the buildings are known to have been used as a police barracks prior to being taken over by the railways. The barracks is a single storey complex of three main wings surrounding a courtyard. The earlier portions on the north and west sides are of English bond brick with hipped iron roofs, 12-pane windows with stone sills and simple verandahs on chamfered timber posts, some of which have been altered. The building fabric suggests it was built in several different stages and that provision was made for possible further extensions to the wing facing the railways. It has been altered on a number of occasions. Interiors retain some early joinery and board walls and ceilings but are mostly not of interest. Style suggests 1880s. Now vacant. Flanked by a modern bowling club on the Sydney side and vacant land on the railway station side. Building Material: English bond brick, hipped iron roofs, 12 pane windows with stone sills, chamfered timber posts (NTA (NSW)).
