Description

Builder/Maker: J.Chamber (Woodlands)
Construction years: 1841-1850
Physical description: Style: Victorian Georgian. Exterior: Stone. Joined single storey stone cottages, corrugated iron hipped roofs, flat curved corrugated iron verandah roofs. Cast iron columns and lace frieze to verandahs. French doors with shutters (LEP, 2011).

Goonoobah:
Two conjoined sandstone cottages built on different alignments, with Woodlands set back further from the street. Goonoobah was built between June 1841 and May 1842 and has a large hipped iron roof and a bullnose verandah with cast iron frence and columns; and French windows with shutters. There are three large stuccoed chimneys, two with pots (National Trust of Australia (NSW), 1982).

Woodlands:
The other house, formerly Woodlands was built in 1843 of similar design with shuttered French windows, cast iron decoration to the verandah, and bullnosed verandah roof. The main roof is hipped and of iron and has three later unsympathetic dormer windows to the front and sides. Building Material: Sandstone (National Trust of Australia (NSW), 1982).
Modifications and dates: Attic additions in roof of No. 44 out of proportion with building, later stone fence posts with pipe rails (LEP, 2011)

History

Historical notes: Woodlands added later (than Goonoobah in 1840) by J. Chamber (LEP, 2011).
