History

The Tyrian ran aground and was wrecked at Elizabeth Reef off the New South Wales coast on 24 November 1851. At the time, the vessel was on a voyage from Honolulu to Sydney with 12 crew and 16 passengers and general cargo. There was no loss of life.

The 226 ton wooden barquentine was built at Scarborough in the United Kingdom in 1828 and was registered in London.
