2015 Annual Report

This report gives details of the operation of the New South Wales Commercial Kangaroo Harvest Management Plan 2012–16 in its fourth year (2015), as required by performance indicator 18.1 of the plan. Appendix A describes each performance indicator and the progress made during 2015.

The 2014 kangaroo population estimate for all species was 17,172,530 kangaroos. The 2015 annual quota was set at 2,701,593 kangaroos. The actual harvest for 2015 was 13.2% of the quota, and only 2.1% of the total population. 92% of the harvest was male. It is considered that the 2015 harvest was well within the limits of a sustainable harvest.
