Energy efficiency retrofits

HEER is designed to incentivise energy efficiency upgrades in households and small businesses.

Under HEER, Energy Savings Certificates (ESCs) can be generated by implementing these energy efficiency activities:

• high efficiency lighting
• high efficiency air conditioners
• high efficiency window and door glazing
• external blinds to a windows or doors
• draught-proofing of windows and doors
• high efficiency gas hot water heaters
• high efficiency gas space heaters
• ventilators
• self-sealing exhaust fans and exhaust fan sealing products
• ultra-low-flow showerheads
• chimney dampers
• high efficiency pool pumps

Eligibility to claim ESCs under HEER

To be eligible to claim ESCs under the HEER sub-method a minimum of 4 Energy Savings Certificates (ESCs) must be generated for each site when implementing low cost activities. For example, you could generate 4 ESCs if you replace 8 halogen downlights with LEDs. Note that the total energy savings will depend on what is actually installed and replaced.

A minimum of $30 (excluding GST) must be paid by the purchaser to ensure that they are engaged in the process.
